Chiemi Yusa is the protagonist of the series. She is all around a nice girl, but because she is reckless and has a strong sense of justice, she has been caught several times for fighting. Although the bullies she fights deserve what they get, she has received an reputation throughout the school as the school's most violent girl. It also does not help her reputation at all that her father is the famous pro wrestler, the Great Yusa. In her first year of high school, she meets and starts dating her classmate, Akifumi Hirata, or also known as, The Black Devil, while doing a errand for her teacher.

Akifumi Hirata is Chiemi Yusa's boyfriend and the famous Black Devil of Nishi High. (Nishi High is the name of their high school.) Hirata lives with her grandmother and his little brother, Haruchika. Everyday, he works part-time, and because of this, barely has time to go to school. When he does find time for school, he and his two best friends, Renji Ono and Hirota, get into fights with their seniors. Although he and his friends are not the ones who start the fights, he does win them and acquires the nickname, The Black Devil. Later on, he meets and falls in love with Chiemi Yusa, the strongest girl in school. After Hirata shows her his kind and reliable side, they start dating and become Nishi High's worst couple.

Yukari Komaki is one of Chiemi Yusa's best friends. Out of the two best friends, Yukari is considered to be the pretty best friend while the other best friend, Maki Hoshii, is considered to be the cute one by the school. In their three people group, Yukari is voice of reason and the one who gives out advice, although most of her advice seems to backfire. She takes pride in teasing the main couple about their romance, but is secretly jealous of the love they share. Although Yukari possesses the best looks of their three-people group, her personality is the most tomboyish. In her life, there has only been one boy, who has treated her like a girl, and because of that, she slowly starts to like him. That boy is Ono Renji, a friend of Hirata.

Maki Hoshii is one of Chiemi Yusa's best friends. While Yukari is the pretty best friend, Maki Hoshii is considered to be the cute best friend by their peers. Unlike her best friends, Maki has a quiet and demure nature, but her views and opinions are respected by peers. Not much is known about Maki's love life, but what is known is that she is frequently the target of Hirota's affections.

Renji Ono is one of Hirata's best friends. He is cool-headed and very outspoken; he also likes being alone and smoking cigarettes. Entering high school. Ono bleached and spiked his hair, and started smoking. By doing this, he and his other cheeky friend, Hirota, became the targets of the upperclassmen, who wants to fight them. His hobby is silverwork, and on the weekends, he works as a part-timer at his family friend's accessory shop. He is liked by Yukari Komaki but doesn't know it yet.

Hirota is one of Hirata's best friends. Unlike Ono, Hirota is hot-headed, headstrong, and cheeky. When he entered high school, Hirota gelled and wore his school uniform like an old Japanese yankee. This new style and his cheeky personality offended his seniors, and he with his two best friends got into fights with them, earning them a bad reputation. Hirota did not like the new relationship between Hirata and his girlfriend but was too scared of the girl to do anything. Instead, he focuses his energies on finding a girlfriend but sadly, has yet to find one.
